Archer Dominates Qualifying At Southwest Invitational
Two-time national PBA champion DJ Archer dominated the field Saturday to lead after qualifying at the 2018 Grand Casino Southwest Invitational.
Two-time national PBA champion DJ Archer of Friendswood, Texas, dominated the field Saturday to lead after qualifying at the 2018 Grand Casino Hotel and Resort Southwest Invitational.
Archer led the invite-only field of 32 bowlers with a 12-game total of 2,737, a 228.08 average, on the tough Earl Anthony pattern. He got off to a huge start in the second block of six games, opening with 278, 267 and 296 for a stunning 841 series to outdistance the field.

Sitting in second place after qualifying is Devin Bidwell of Wichita, Kansas, who finished with 2,578, a 214.83 average. Shawn Maldonado of Houston is third with 2,528, Tyler Albracht of Amarillo, Texas, is fourth with 2,504 and rounding out the top five is David Krol of Nixa, Missouri, with 2,493.
Half of the field advanced from Saturday’s qualifying into Sunday’s match play. The top four players in the standings received two byes, while players ranked five through eight received one bye.
Match play begins Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Central time and will be broadcast live on FloBowling until a champion is crowned.
