Brian LeClair won his fourth career PBA50 Tour title Friday by defeating PBA Hall of Famer Pete Weber in the championship match of the 2019 PBA50 River City Extreme Open.
LeClair, who was the 2017 PBA50 Player of the Year, tossed a clutch double in the final frame to shutout Weber and take a 225-200 victory in Monticello, Minnesota.
LeClair trailed by 17 pins after six frames but tossed strikes in the sixth, seventh and eighth frames to turn the match around and move into the lead. After a wobbling six pin in the ninth, he stepped up and buried two strikes and got just enough on the fill to shut Weber out.

Weber, meanwhile, started with a double and held the lead early in the match but lost his carry on the left lane. He left a weak 10 pin in the seventh frame and a light seven pin in the ninth frame on that lane as LeClair rallied to take the win.
Weber survived a tough battle with third seed James Campbell in the semifinal and advanced with a 215-214 victory.
In a tense final frame, Weber finished the match first and needed a double for the shutout but instead left a nine pin on a shot that was a pinch high. He made the spare and struck on the fill.
Campbell also needed a double for the win. He got the first one, which he had to have to even force a tie, but left a 2-10 split on his second shot. Needing to make it for the tie, Campbell got the two pin but left the 10 standing to lose by one.
Campbell blew past PBA Hall of Famer Amleto Monacelli in the second match of the stepladder, 247-199, to move into the semifinal.
Campbell overcame a shaky start after he went high in the first and third frames. He then strung together five consecutive strikes to build a 40-pin lead and coast to the win. Monacelli got in trouble early when he left a 4-9 split in the second and then the Big Four split in the seventh frame.
Ron Mohr got out of the gates quick against Monacelli in the opening match of the stepladder finals but fizzled quickly in a 233-200 loss.
Mohr started with five consecutive strikes but followed it up by opening in three of the next four frames as Monacelli raced past him for the win. Monacelli started with four in a row and stayed clean to take advantage of Mohr’s miscues.
The PBA50 Tour returns to the lanes next week with the PBA50 South Shore Open in Hammond, Indiana. FloBowling will provide live coverage of the event from July 16-18.
