Sullins averaged 220.88 for eight games in the first round of qualifying, finishing with a total of 1,767, which was just enough to take the lead at the event in Anderson, Indiana.
The entire field returns Monday for one more eight-game round of qualifying before the first cut is made. All rounds of the event are being broadcast live on FloBowling.

Sullins shot games of 239, 233, 203, 174, 244, 235, 202 and 237 to begin his run at a second consecutive show. He made the stepladder at the PBA50 South Shore Open last week but lost in the semifinal to Sammy Ventura.
Stony Baker just missed holding the first-round lead and sits in second place with 1,764, just three pins behind Sullins.
Brian LeClair, who has won the past two PBA50 events, continued to bowl well this week and is currently in third place with 1,763. If he wins again this week, he would join Walter Ray Williams Jr. as the only other three-time winner this season.
Doug Kent occupies the fourth spot with 1,738, while Ryan Shafer and Brian Kretzer are tied for fifth with 1,733.
Williams, who missed last week’s event because he was competing in the PBA League, sits in ninth place after the opening round. Williams is currently leading the PBA50 Player of the Year race and a strong finish this week may prove critical to him winning the award, especially if LeClair wins again.
