Youth bowlers across the country will take the first step toward competing for a national championship this weekend when regional events are held for the PBA Junior National Championship.
FloBowling will provide live coverage of two of the four regional sites on Friday and Saturday from the Midwest Regional in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, and the South Regional in Marietta, Georgia. Regionals will also take place in Euless, Texas, and Phoenix.
The regional events will offer players the opportunity to earn a spot in the PBA Junior National Championship, which will take place in conjunction with a PBA Tour stop at a date to be announced.
The format at each regional event is the same. One squad of six-game qualifying will take place Friday night, while the second squad will take place Saturday morning.
The top 50 percent of players advance into a second two-game round of qualifying. The top 20 players then advance into match play for six games. The top two boys and top two girls will advance to bowl for the national championship.
The PBA also announced the Parker Bohn III Scholarship Tournament, which will take place this week in Howell, New Jersey, will serve as a qualifier for players in the East Region.
