After some pretty strong showings in majors this season, both of these players were able to advance into the Playoffs field.
Kent has had a steady season even though he’s only made a couple shows. His best finish was second at the PBA Doubles Championship, while he also finished fifth at the PBA Players Championship.
Kent, who has had an emotional end to the season after losing his dad Jim to cancer, hasn’t finished lower than 43rd all season.
For Via, he essentially earned his spot in the Playoffs thanks to two stellar performances in majors. He made the show and finished fifth at the U.S. Open and the PBA World Championship. Had he not made either of those shows, Via probably wouldn’t be here since he made the cut into the Playoffs by just 350 points.
Who has the edge? Given his steady performance this season, Kent seems to be the man to beat in this match. If he can channel his emotions to fuel him, he could make a run in the Playoffs. Edge: Kent.
