This match is a stark contrast to the youth of the first two matches on this show as a pair of veterans will battle for a spot in the Round of 16.
Smallwood is coming off a big change as he left Radical and signed with Motiv just weeks ago, so he is still breaking in the new equipment. Prior to the switch, Smallwood made the show at the PBA Indianapolis Open but it’s been an otherwise average season.
Barnes had a great start to the season, making the show at the PBA Hall of Fame Classic and PBA Jonesboro Open in January but only cashed twice since then. His best major finish this season was 17th at the PBA World Championship.
Who has the edge? Although Barnes hasn’t performed at the highest level for most of the year, he still has a ton of tricks that could come in handy on this show. And with Smallwood still learning the Motiv equipment, the edge goes to Barnes.
