Match 13: Svensson def. Troup, 256-246 (USA 10, Europe 3)
As the opening day at the Weber Cup came to an end, Jesper Svensson was able to give Europe another point but it was still a dominating performance by Team USA overall.
Svensson defeated Kyle Troup, 256-246, as Europe pulled to within 10-3 in the race to 23 points. The competition resumes Tuesday at 8 a.m. Eastern.
Needing a mark in the final frame to secure the win, Svensson left and converted a seven pin to earn the point.
For Troup, the difference in the match ended up being a missed 10 pin in the second frame. On the spare attempt, Troup kicked the ball return throwing him off balance and he missed it to the left.
Without Svensson, Europe would have been in even more trouble on the opening day. Svensson was involved in all three of Europe’s wins. He defeated EJ Tackett in a singles match and teamed with Thomas Larsen for a doubles win.

Match 12: Troup/Tackett def. Williams/Palermaa, 257-221 (USA 10, Europe 2)
The wins just keep on coming for Team USA as they now lead 10-2 against Europe.
Kyle Troup and EJ Tackett combined to defeat Stu Williams and Osku Palermaa, 257-221, in the second-to-last match of the day at the Weber Cup.
It was all USA throughout much of the match as Troup and Tackett combined for five strikes in the first seven frames.
Williams and Palermaa started with a double but then Williams struggled mightily. Force to bowl the first shot until he could strike again in the scotch doubles format, Williams missed on five consecutive frames leaving a mixture of splits and 10 pins.
The final match of the day will be a fans’ choice match between Kyle Troup and Jesper Svensson.
Sealed with a kiss.

Match 11: Troup def. Barrett, 236-203 (USA 9, Europe 2)
In a match that featured six opens between the two players, Kyle Troup managed to take a 236-203 win over Dom Barrett and give the USA a 9-2 lead in the race to 23 points.
It was a nightmare start to the match for Barrett as he had two opens in the first three frames, including missing the 3-6-10 in the second and 6-7 split in the third.
Troup built up a big lead through six frames striking on four of his first six shots but things got a little interesting after that.
Troup left a pair of splits for opens, the 4-9 and the 2-8-10, in the seventh and eighth frames to let Barrett back in the match.
Barrett was unable to capitalize, however, leaving and missing the 2-8 in the ninth frame.
There are two matches left for the day with a doubles match between Stu Williams/Osku Palermaa and Troup/EJ Tackett next.

Match 10: Svensson/Larsen def. Barnes/Simonsen, 278-217 (USA 8, Europe 2)
In the first match where Team USA has really looked vulnerable, Europe’s Jesper Svensson and Thomas Larsen were able to beat Chris Barnes and Anthony Simonsen, 278-217. The USA now leads by an 8-2 margin.
Svensson and Larsen got off to a quick start with five consecutive strikes to build a 35-pin lead and never really be challenged in the match.
Svensson was able to toss a strike in the ninth frame and that was enough for the shutout.
For the first time today, the USA’s ball reaction looked suspect as Barnes especially struggled. The good news for the USA is Barnes’ day is done unless he’s selected for the fans’ choice match.
Coming up next will be a singles match between Dom Barrett and Kyle Troup as Europe tries to build some momentum in the second session.

Match 9: O’Neill def. Williams, 256-202 (USA 8, Europe 1)
Team USA’s overwhelming advantage continues to grow as Bill O’Neill defeated Stu Williams, 256-202, to give his squad an 8-1 lead.
Through five frames, it was an even match with O’Neill leaving and making a 10 pin in the first frame and Williams converting a 10 pin in the second frame. Aside from that, it was all strikes through five frames.
Things went sideways for Williams in the sixth frame, however, when he went high and left the 3-6-10. He missed the spare and fell behind by 21 pins.
On his next shot in the seventh frame, Williams pitched the ball wide right and left the 1-2. He followed that up by leaving the 2-4-8-10 split.
It was smooth sailing down the stretch for O’Neill as he needed just a spare in the ninth frame to secure the shutout. He converted a 10 pin to get the job done.
Europe is desperate for a win in Match 10, which will feature Jesper Svensson and Thomas Larsen taking on Anthony Simonsen and Chris Barnes in a doubles match.

Match 8: Barnes def. Larsen, 254-243 (USA 7, Europe 1)
It’s a new pattern for Session 2 as they have switched from 44 feet to 41 feet but it was much of the same in the opening match.
Chris Barnes gave the USA a 7-1 lead with a 254-243 win over Thomas Larsen to set the tone for the final session of the day.
Barnes never trailed in the match, leading by at least 23 pins most of the way thanks in part to Larsen missing the 3-6-10 in the very first frame.
Larsen got things together in the back half of the game and didn’t miss after the fifth frame but it was too little too late.
Needing just eight pins in the final frame, Barnes went high and left a 3-6 combination, which was good enough for the win.
Next up is another singles match, this one between Stu Williams and Bill O’Neill.
