Francois Lavoie Continues His 'Best Season,' Wins 2021 PBA Super Slam

Francois Lavoie picked up his second six-figure payday of the season Sunday as he won the 2021 PBA Super Slam.
Lavoie rolled past Kyle Troup, 247-202, to win the special event between this season’s five major champions in Annandale, Virginia.
The $100,000 first-place prize Sunday matched the amount Lavoie won in February when he defeated Anthony Simonsen to win the PBA Tournament of Champions.
“It’s been the best season of my life so far,” Lavoie said after Sunday’s win. “It’s hard to imagine something going this well for an extended period of time like this. So, I couldn’t be happier with my season.”
In the semifinal matches, Troup advanced with an easy 268-214 win over Thomas Larsen, while Lavoie took down top seed Chris Via, 212-209, in a much closer match.
Needing a strike and nine pins to secure the win, that’s exactly what Lavoie did. Via could have added more pressure in the 10th frame with a double. He got the first one but rang a 10 pin on his second shot.
The show started with the five major champions competing in a one-game match to determine seeding with the low finisher eliminated.
It wasn’t close as Tom Daugherty, who suffered a back injury during his rough start to the match, was the low man by 45 pins.
Via won the round with 251, Troup had 242, Larsen shot 232, Lavoie had 224 and Daugherty shot 179.
The next event for the PBA Tour is the PBA Playoffs, which kick off with two live shows next weekend on FS1 (U.S.) and FloBowling (international).
