No 8 Pin This Time For Randy Pedersen

Randy Pedersen is well known for a solid 8 pin that cost him a major title, but last night, nothing got in the way of his 79th 300 game.

No 8 Pin This Time For Randy Pedersen

PBA Hall of Famer Randy Pedersen won 13 titles in a career that spanned more than two decades, but he’s probably best known for the title he didn’t win.

At the 1995 Touring Players Championship, Pedersen needed a strike and count to defeat Ernie Schlegel to win the title. Instead, he left a stone cold 8 pin that will live on forever in bowling lore. In fact, Pedersen still pays homage to the moment in his Twitter handle – @Stone8RP – and in his Twitter bio – “I forgive you solid 8 pin.”

It’s one of the most iconic moments in PBA history and if you haven’t seen it, watch it here:

Pedersen doesn’t bowl on the PBA Tour or even PBA50 Tour anymore. He focuses most of his attention on calling the action for ESPN (soon to be FOX) for the PBA’s nationally televised broadcasts.

However, Pedersen does still take to the lanes and last night, he managed to shoot his 79th career 300 game. Luckily for us, someone captured the moment on video and it’s full of greatness.

Pedersen hams it up for the crowd before delivering a strike – no 8 pin this time – to complete the perfect game. And his celebration afterwards is epic. Check it out:
