Ciminelli Announces Split From MOTIV
Seven-time PBA champion Ryan Ciminelli and MOTIV have split.
Seven-time PBA champion Ryan Ciminelli and MOTIV have split.
Ciminelli announced the move on Facebook on Thursday, saying he was thankful for the opportunity but was becoming a free agent. He had been with MOTIV for two years.
“I love the guys at this company, and I am so, so thankful for the opportunity they gave me,” Ciminelli said. “However, we just couldn’t make great things happen as a partnership, so we have decided it is time to part ways.”
The left-hander is in the midst of a tough 2019 season on tour and had only cashed in two events this season before helping lead the Portland Lumberjacks to their first PBA League championship.
Ciminelli’s best individual finish this season came at the PBA Lubbock Sports Open in January when he finished in 20th place.
“On my end, I feel I have really not held up my end by not getting the job done at any point and I hope they get somebody that can do for them what EJ (Tackett) does,” Ciminelli said. “I wish everyone at MOTIV nothing but the best.”
Ciminelli, who was with DV8 before joining MOTIV in the summer of 2017, said he has become a free agent and is starting a “new journey.”
The hard-throwing lefty’s last title came on Sept. 30, 2016 when he won the PBA Xtra Frame Parkside Lanes Open. His biggest win came in 2015 when he defeated Dom Barrett, 236-223, to win the U.S. Open.
