Sherman Tops Summer Tour Points After Four Events
With four of nine events completed, Kyle Sherman has taken the lead in the FloBowling PBA Summer Tour points race.
Kyle Sherman, who finished fifth at the PBA Wilmington Open, has moved into the lead in the FloBowling PBA Summer Tour points list.
Sherman jumped ahead of previous leader Jakob Butturff and leads with 3,785 points. A big chunk of Sherman's points came from his victory at the PBA/PWBA Striking Against Breast Cancer Mixed Doubles, where he earned 2,500 points.
Bill O'Neill, who won the PBA Chesapeake Open over the weekend, moves up to second place with 3,490 points after finishing 11th in Wilmington, North Carolina. AJ Johnson used a 12th-place finish in Wilmington to move into third with 3,465.
Butturff struggled in Wilmington, finishing in 57th place and missing the cut by nearly 90 pins. He drops down to fourth place with 3,180.
AJ Chapman, EJ Tackett, BJ Moore and Stu Williams round out the top eight. Moore, who won in Wilmington, will compete this weekend but is not currently scheduled to compete in the final four events of the season.
The top eight players in points will earn spots in the FloBowling ATX Invite, a special event to be held in Austin, Texas, on Sept. 21. Those eight will also earn spots in the PBA China Tiger Cup, an event that will be held in November. The top five will cash in the special USBC Cup prize list.
Players will have a shot at another 2,500 points for winning the PBA Gene Carter's Pro Shop Classic this weekend. That event will be held Saturday and Sunday live on FloBowling.
