This is the sixth of a seven-part series looking back on Anthony Simonsen’s titles on the PBA Tour. Be sure to watch FloBowling’s first documentary titled “Simonsen: Leave It Behind” live on Sept. 4 at Noon Eastern.

When Anthony Simonsen won the 2016 USBC Masters, he became the youngest player in history to win a major title. Fast forward three years later and Simonsen made more history when he won the 2019 PBA Players Championship.

Simonsen, 22, broke the record for the youngest to win two majors when he hoisted the trophy in Columbus, Ohio, earlier this year. It was a record that had stood since Billy Hardwick won his second major in 1965 at age 23.

In order to get the win, Simonsen had to take down one of the most successful major-championship bowlers in history, Jason Belmonte, and won in a dramatic title match, 232-212.

“To have a second major at this point in my career, I’m speechless,” Simonsen said after the win. “Jason is the guy everyone is gunning for and as a fellow two-hand player, he’s an inspiration.”
