2019 Season

The 2019 season was Daugherty’s best financial season of his career, even if he may have been frustrated to pile up the cash via several smaller transactions rather than a couple big ones. Finishing excruciatingly close to multiple stepladder finals in addition to the three he made, Daugherty was consistently in contention, with very few exceptions, all season long. It’s why, despite not winning a title, Daugherty was in the top 15 in earnings, top 10 in points and was just one of seven players who appeared in every edition of our power rankings.

2020 Outlook

It’s entirely possible Daugherty’s 2020 will look a lot like his 2019. It’s hard to imagine him not being in contention just as frequently, with the only question being whether he can make it to a couple more shows or win an extra match or two on TV. He’s generally good for at least one serious run at a major every season (he had two in 2019 – finishing in the top 10 in both the World Championship and U.S. Open) and he’ll have three chances to do so before the end of February.
