Rash, a 16-time PBA Tour champion who won the Masters during the 2007-08 season, made the decision after not feeling well Wednesday morning.
“I woke up this morning and am not feeling well,” Rash said in a Facebook post. “Out of an abundance of caution, I have decided to withdraw from the USBC Masters. I do not want to put anyone at risk or the event in jeopardy. There will always be another tournament to bowl.”
In the opening round of qualifying on Tuesday, Rash posted a five-game total of 924, a 184.8 average, which put him in a tie for 120th place.
The USBC Masters continues with qualifying throughout the day Wednesday and Thursday before heading into match play on Friday and Saturday.
The season’s final major, the 2021 U.S. Open, will take place immediately following the completion of the Masters. It remains to be seen if Rash will recover in time to compete in that event.
All rounds of qualifying and match play for both events are being broadcast live on FloBowling.
