Adams State and UT Permian Basin head to Ratliff Stadium in Odessa, TX to compete in week 3 of the 2024 D2 football season starting at 7:00 p.m. ET. Neither team is currently ranked in the Top 25 of the AFCA Division II Coaches Poll after week 2 after the Falcons dropped from being ranked 21st following their win in week 1. UT Permian Basin received 19 votes and a win against Adams State on Saturday could be enough to bump them back into the top of the division.

#24 Owen Pentz added to the chaos at 197 lbs by taking out #2 Ethan Laird in the Southern Scuffle semis.
#2 Kendall Coleman of Purdue and #12 Jarrett Jacques of Missouri had a wild Scuffle semi that ended in sudden-victory.
The 2023 Southern Scuffle is taking place January 1-2 and features some of the country’s best wrestlers. With so many top guys in action, there are sure to be numerous upsets that we’ll be tracking in the below article. As the event unfolds, we'll update the results at the end of every round.

The Southern Scuffle continues to be the best first tournament of the new year and an ideal way to kick off the second half of the college season. The lightweight field is formidable but some of the suspense comes from not knowing who will compete. Some programs are sending full rosters plus reserves while others are only sending back-ups.
